Heisig's Remembering the Kanji books and cards offer a (relatively) quick method for learning kanji. I passed the Kanken level 2 thanks to this method. Book I (not pictured here): Learn keywords and components to distinguish between kanji and remember their forms. Book II: Learn readings using patterns where possible. Book III: For advanced learners.
